The four companies have won tenders as part of the Queensland exploration program.
Chi Oil and Gas was the successful tenderer for the new exploration area covering 5266 square kilometres of land near Quilpie and will be limited to producing gas for the Australian market only.
The other three successful tenderers announced they will be able to supply any gas they find to either the Australian or export market.
